Abortion Love Letter No.2: Dear Beloveds of My Wombs
No.2! I am collaborating with the inimitable Camila Ochoa Mendoza of the Abortion, with love podcast to publish and air a series of love letters, written and read aloud by people whose lives have been touched by abortion, and who have love to express—to their provider, to their support systems, to the pregnancies they terminated, to themselves.
Abortion is love.
We will be publishing a new love letter every Monday, with enormous love and gratitude to artist Idalina Lehtonen for our gorgeous graphics and composer Anton Olsson for the transcendant music you’ll hear on each episode. You can listen to Carolyn read this letter here, or by subscribing to Abortion, with love on your favorite podcast platform. And you can send us a letter of your own, or a response to pass onto any of the letter-writers.
(Please remember that these are letters written by individual people, in their own cultural and personal contexts. We believe that everyone’s abortion experiences are valid and should be honored. You may not relate to or resonate with some of the things written in these letters, and that is okay. But we hope that you can recognize the magic and the truth in people honoring their own unique experiences, in their own words.)
Dear Beloveds of My Wombs,
As a mother of twins twice, I submit to the Energy that created me, for it was rooted in the foundation of Love. No matter the outcome. There is nothing but Love when it is allowed to flow like the river of blood on which it became the fruit of a laborious journey. Even a shortened journey is a worthy one. There is a lesson in all acts of Grace. This paradox-filled life has shown itself to be grounded in a grey area with an ombre hue. For me, that faded lining proved to be a wellspring of hope for a better tomorrow--even in the face of loss. I forgive the wound.
Today, on behalf of others who have met me at the crossroads, I am remembering acts of courage. I request that my vessel of transport for souls assigned to my care be filled to overflowing with ancestral wisdom, blessing the vast community of departed souls, surviving souls, and souls who are on their way, with angelic support forever and a day. I forgive the wound.
I now see that choice has prepared me to mother households, communities, and nations. I forgive the wound.
I have dispelled any and all feelings of despair. May my sweet, tender heart remain nestled in the center of said temple, mended and comforted in the face of threats, harmful acts, and disrespect. I forgive the wound.
Allow the power of this natural bond to be the shield within the Circle of Life that protects my Light from its own shadow. I forgive the wound.
Residing in the glow of love, I affirm the cloak of complete adoration for my fulfilling life. I am grateful for the lessons; and, I cherish all stages of my growth, knowing that each elevation will always match my level of understanding. I forgive the wound.
Ase.
Love, Carolyn
